Brief Description
The Manufacturing Engineer is expected to deliver targeted cost savings to the company by leading and managing continuous improvement projects in order to accomplish measurable business process improvements.
The successful candidate will employ Lean Manufacturing methodology and analytics into organizational operations in order to accomplish business objectives and will work with other functional leaders in the planning, designing, and accomplishing of key projects. Another expectation of this role will be to provide functional/technical guidance across multiple SAP modules. In addition, this role will require training on lean manufacturing or other equivalent continuous improvement methodology.
Participate in Kaizen events to identify potential savings opportunities and manage projects.
Based in Orange, MA, this position will report to the Plant Manager.
Key Accountabilities
o Develop and measure standard metrics, diagramming the flow of business processes.
o Identify opportunities for improvement
o Develop and implement improvement plans
o Monitor implemented plans to ensure sustainability.
o Develop detailed work instructions
o Contributes to overall strategic vision and integrates a broad range of ideas regarding SAP implementations and support
o Provide analytics, reports, and resources to empower other team members to identify improvement opportunities
o Support overall continuous improvement efforts
o Manage multiple projects to enhance product value and reduce product costs.
o Establish trust and work closely with associates to investigate, develop, and implement product optimization opportunities.
o Work in cooperation with Product Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering to estimate the engineering and related development costs, risks and timing.
o Provide support for the development of economic justifications.
o Lead VAVE kaizen events with internal teams, as well as supply base, to identify cost reduction opportunities.
o Complete design project assignments in a timely efficient manner.
o Works closely with the drafting/design team to properly manage engineering documentation such as bills of material, submittals, detail drawings and revisions, operation maintenance and installation instructions.
o Participate, Lead, and Facilitate Kaizen events to teach Lean manufacturing principles.
Qualifications
Job Requirements
o Positive attitude and an energetic work ethic
o BS degree in Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or related field experience
o 3
years related work experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment
o Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
o Practical understanding of Lean business practices and Continuous Improvement process implementation
o Ability to work proficiently on a cross functional team to achieve project goals
o Demonstrated ability to develop and execute action plans
o Must be a quick learner, able to understand various product functions in relatively limited time
o Some travel will be required, 10-20%

o Strong PC skills required including a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

o Manage metrics with action plans and bowlers in accordance with the Strategic Deployment Process
